the rihanna interview.

So I ran into this link that a friend sent me about Rihanna's interview on 20/20 that kind of struck a nerve when I read it. I couldn't even get through the entire article before I started to feel disgusted with the comments made about Rihanna's decision to speak with Diane Sawyer.
"RIHANNA: 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR' OR SELFISH PROMOTIONAL QUEEN? Going into the interview, I expected Rihanna to tell her side of the story. I expected her to leave information out and to make Chris Brown seem like the bad guy. I expected her to throw him under the bus, run him over, reverse, and do it all over again. Unfortunately, after the interview, I realized that all my expectations came true. I can honestly say that I was not moved or touched by Rihanna’s interview. If anything, it made me angry for many reasons. The first is simple: I believe she did this interview simply for promotional reasons. She has an album coming out and she wants to get sympathy sales."

This person continues to talk about how Rihanna pushed him over the edge and how his dancers & friends can back that fact up. If I'm not mistaken, she admitted that the more inlove THEY became, the more dangerous THEY were for EACHOTHER. She did not only say HE alone was the problem. She clearly acknowledges the fact that she knows she wasn't in the right either and that it took two people to end up where they did.
Let's just say for a minute she did put her scary-long-neon-acrylic-talon-index-fingernail in his face and yelled at him for receiving a text message from another woman. Does it still give him the right to beat her to a PULP? I don't understand how people can feel like there is something any woman can do to deserve to look the way she did by the end of that night. If Chris Brown really was the bigger person and she was out of hand, he would have called a friend or dropped her off. Or called 911 if her actions were really that severe. How is beating her til her eyes were swollen shut the answer to her acting up, if that was truly the case?
Everyone knows I admire Rihanna for her fashion sense as well as being a strong opinionated woman in a world where you are judged for every move, decision or statement you make. But if she really did do something to really send the guy over the edge, I would have totally agreed with CB calling someone for help to put her in her place if he obviously couldn't do it the proper way himself. And if she was getting in his face? Pin her down. Pinning her down would not have left the extensive bruises and emotional scars she got from him losing it.
As for statistics, I'll have you know that the national domestic hotline calls went up by 59%, and the teen help line went up to 73% since the interview. In my opinion, I believe she knew once she released the album she'd get bombarded with questions about the incident. So why not just knock it out with one interview & move on from it? It gets repetitive & annoying when the same questions are asked over & over again. It's the elephant in the room, and unless she nips it in the bud, it will SURELY be the #1 question each & every reporter will ask the moment she starts to promote.
To sum this all up, it's all coming down to "you're damned if you do - you're damned if you don't." She would have gotten so much heat for not talking about it if she decided to never say a word. But she still is even more so now, having talked about it.
